Monologue
Dr. Peter Glidden fills in for Dr. Wallach starting show discussing the death of pop star Whitney Houston. Contending that once the toxicology reports come out everyone will know what chemicals were in her body. Asserting that his opinion is they will find she was on some sort of pharmaceutical drug that played a role in her death. Also citing other famous people who have died as a result of their association with some doctor who prescribed addictive drugs.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Glidden discuss a news article regarding a study on the use of antibiotics to treat chronic sinus infections. Researchers found no difference in symptoms between antibiotics and a placebo. Infectous disease experts contend the cause of sinus infections is bacteria less than two percent of the time. Meaning the rest are caused by viruses that aren't affected by antibiotics. While the fifth most common reason for prescribing antibiotics to adults is sinus infections.
