Monologue

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing black history month. Outlining some of the ideas discussed in his book and companion CD "Black Gene Lies". Where he discusses his theory that diseases the main stream medical industry says are genetic is wrong. Contending that reason that black men don't generally live as long as white or hispanic isn't due to genes. But rather differences in the quality of healthcare and differences in diets and lifestyles.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning studies on the health benefits of drinking coffee. One study found that people who consistently drank coffee had a 20% lower risk of haveing a stroke. Another study found those who drank four or more cups daily had a 50% reduced risk of developing type 2 diabetes. A Chinese study found compounds in coffee inhibited the formation of a protein called human islet amyloid polypeptide. These can accumulate in organs and interfere with normal function and cause disease.
