Monologue
Dr. Wallach starts the show today discussing a previous report that indicated children of today won't live as long as their parents and grandparents. Doc contends that this is due to nutritional defiencies in children that are allowing arteries to clog a early ages.
Pearls of Wisdom
Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding a study on children diagnosed with ADHD (attention defiicit hyperactivity disorder). The study concluded that possibly 1 million or more children may have been misdiagnosed. Researchers looked a over 12,000 kids records and found that the youngest children in a class were 60% more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD compared to the older kids. In Michigan where the study was conducted the cut-off for eligibility for kindergarden is December 1st. Children born after December 1st are held back until the next school year. The researchers found kids born on Dec. 1st had a much higher rate of ADHD diagnosis compared to kids born Dec. 2nd.
