A 21 year-old man was transported to an area hospital, and arrested for D-U-I, early this morning in Salinas. Andretty Ortiz, was unresponsive, but breathing after he crashed the car he was driving into the playground fence and school building at Roosevelt School on Capitol Street. Emergency responders had to cut the roof off the car to extricate Ortiz. He was listed in critical condition in the I-C-U at Natividad Medical Center.
If Ortiz recovers, he could be charged with Driving Under the Influence, Hit-and-Run, and Driving On a Suspended License.
