Recreational Dungeness crab season begins Saturday at 12:01 AM Saturday. Commercial crabbers must wait until Nov ember 15th for their season to begin.
Monterey Bay fishermen don’t have to worry about algal toxins cutting the season short. There are concerns, however, about the number of crabs they will find.
Recreational crabbers are allowed to take 10 crabs a day that are at least 5¾ inches across. Commercial fishermen can take crabs that are a minimum 6¼ inches in breadth and are placed into tiers that limit how many crab pots they can tag and throw into the water.
