A man, in his mid-40’s, has become the 8th person to die from Covid-19 in Santa Cruz county. Although he had underlying health conditions, Covid-19 was listed as his primary cause of death. Although the overall number of cases of covid-19 in the county appears to be declining in the county, there is a disproportionate number of south county residents in the Latino community with the virus. County health officials urge people experiencing symptoms to see their provider for testing and follow-up care. Additionally, the Optum Serve testing site at Ramsay Park in Watsonville is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday by appointment. Appointments can be scheduled online at: lhi.care/covidtesting or by calling 888-634-1123.
