there was a fatal car crash outside of watsonvile on saturday. a 31 year old man was killed after hitting a utility pole near laken drive and holohan road around 10:30 a-m. appearently the man’s vehicle drifted across the oncoming lane before crashing into the pole. the cause of the accident is under investigation.

Santa Cruz Police Detectives  served a search warrant, at the home of a 59 year old disabled man, on the 400 block of La Fonda Avenue last Thursday. 7 people were arrested at the residence, and the homeowner found bedridden inurine and feces was transported to the hospital, and the house was red tagged as un-inhabitable. the 5 people arrested that lived at the house. 37 year old shana dimartino, 49 year old sharon husted, 52 year old john dowden,48 year old adelma dowden and 37 year old aaron hamrick wereall charged with elder abuse and other charges ranging from possessing stolen property to drug possession.also arrested at the house were 30 year old jodi windham, for possession and resisting arrest, and 42 year old perry brown on outstanding warrants.

an appeals court overturned a felony child endangerment conviction for a salinas man.   41 year old patrick fousek was convicted and sentenced to 6 years in prison, after he and his girlfriend, 23 year old samantha tomasini, tried to sell their 8 month old baby for 25 dollars, in the walmart parking lot,  in june of 2010.  the appeal stems from an error in the instuctions to the jury. the case is expected to be re-tried.

there was an armed robbery on natividad street friday.  the salinas police department reports that about 10:15 a-m, 2 men armed with a pistol and a shotgun robbed the at&t store at gunpoint for an undisclosed amount of cash. the suspects are described as HISPANIC MALES, 5-8, 200 LBS WEARING STRAW HATS AND GRAY COLORED CLOTHING. they fled in a dark colored sedan. anyone with any information is urged to contact the salinas police department.
