Thanks to a coordinated law enforcement effort on Saturday, a child was recovered safely, after being accidentally kidnapped in watsonville. The 2-year-old girl was in the back seat of a vehicle, which was parked on the 1-hundred block of west 5th street. The owner told police that he was standing nearby, when a man with a hooded sweatshirt got in and drove away. A “project rope” alert went out to several local law enforcement agencies, alerting them about the incident. The vehicle was found shortly afterward by a santa cruz county sheriff’s deputy. It had been abandoned at 6th and walker streets, with the toddler safe inside. She was returned home. Authorities are looking for the suspect involved.
