Federal officials and San Francisco Bay agencies are meeting in Hayward today to celebrate the nation’s largest solar energy partnership. The West Winton Landfill has become the centerpiece of a regional solar collaboration of 19 local agencies in four Bay Area counties. The landfill will be repurposed with nearly 20,000 solar panels to generate over 6 megawatts of renewable power. The project is the first of its kind in the Bay Area and one of the largest in California.
