Carmel-by-the-sea prepares for climate change 12-19-19 0740 DC

Carmel-by-the-sea has become the latest Central Coast city to look at how to protect itself from the effects of climate change. The Carmel-by-the-Sea city council has created a climate committee, which held its second meeting earlier his month.

The committee says it hopes to help adapt the city for a changing climate. The city says that Carmel-by-the-sea could face serious climate-related damage in the future.

Committee members say they first want to identify how the community could be affected by climate change. Later, they’ll decide how the city should respond.

Other local cities that have looked a climate change issues include Santa Cruz, San Luis Obispo, and Pacific Grove.
