Capitola city council members voted 5 to zero last night to close the Pacific Cove Mobile Home Park. The city-owned park off of Capitola Avenue was badly damaged when rain and a ruptured drain pipe caused heavy flooding last month. The City Council was informed during the meeting that it could cost as much as 1-point-8 million dollars to bring the park into compliance with fire and building codes. Council members decided that cost was too great, given the risk that it could flood again. Dozens of Capitola residents attended the meeting. The city now is studying how best to relocate the 26-full time residents of Pacific Cove.
