a recent spike in highway worker deaths has motivated a partnership between cal-trans and the california highway patrol. chp has pledged to park patrol vehicles in construction zones as well as add extra enforcement vehicles to ensure safety. cal trans hopes that the chp prescence will help slow traffic or encourage drivers to move over at least 1 lane from construction work, as required by the “move over law”.
