California wildlife officials are asking residents on the Central Coast to take down their bird feeders and birdbaths. The advisory has been issued following reported salmonella outbreaks in the Bay Area. Between 200 to 400 birds have died from the disease. Similar salmonella outbreaks occurred in 2008 and 2012. Officials recommend residents take down their birdbaths and feeders for a month and clean them to prevent the spread of the disease.
