California assemblymembers have introduced legislation to extend funding for sea otter research. The California Sea Otter Fund, which has received donations through state income tax, is set to expire January 1st, 2016. Assemblymembers are seeking to extend the fund for another five years. Over the past eight years, researchers have received over $2 million to study the mammal and support education and outreach.
