Residents in Bonny Doon are taking wildfire defense into their own hands by making fuel breaks.
In the aftermath of the camp fire in paradise… the Bonny Doon Fire Safe Council will be constructing a fuel break system.
Fuel breaks are areas 20 to 30 feet long where the vegetation is cleared to prevent a wildfire from spreading.
So far, the residents of Bonny Doon have spent $150,000 on fuel breaks and plan to spend another $640,000 on upcoming projects.
The good news… governor Newsome’s new budged includes over 200-million for fuel reduction in California forests.
