In Business news… Santa Cruz biotech company Ontera announced it will merg with German chemical company BASF.
In a press release, officials at Ontera say the global research collaboration will help farmers detect crop disease and resistant strains early.
Ontera was previously known as Two Pore Guys inc. and launched in Santa Cruz in 2011. The company rebranded as Ontera earlier this year. The financial terms of the merger were not disclosed.
