Bill would increase truck speeds on CA roads 02-12-20 15:15 DC

A Bay-area State Assemblymember has introduced a bill that would raise the speed limit for commercial drivers and school bus operators on California roads.

These vehicles are now governed by laws that set a slower speed limit for them than for other vehicles.

A newly introduced Assembly bill would change this to eliminate slower speed for commercial trucks, school buses, and vehicles carrying explosives.

Increased safety risk is cited in arguments against the proposal. While increasing drivers’ usable time is mentioned in arguments in favor.
