The oldest state park in California, Big Basin Redwood State Park, was reportedly severely damaged yesterday by the CZU August Lightning Complex. The park was established more than 100 years ago….in fact, back in 1902, and it included 18,000 acres of coastal redwood forest. The wildfire is said to have damaged the Park’s headquarters as well as the historic core and the campgrounds. All campers, day-use visitors, and state parks staff (at Little Basin and Big Basin) were evacuated.
