The name of the bicyclist, who was struck and killed Sunday night in Watsonville, has been released. 34 year-old Santa Cruz resident Scott Brunton was ejected from his bicycle on westbound Freedom Boulevard in Watsonville around 8:40 p-m near Scurich Lane. The driver of the car that hit brunton’s Bicycle, 29 year-old Violeta Cervantes, said she was distracted by something on her phone right before her car hit the bicycle’s back tire. Cervantes initially fled the scene, but was found and arrested a short time later. She faces charges related to D-U-I, Probation Violation, Vehicular Manslaughter While Intoxicated, Hit-And-Run Resulting In Death Or Injury, and Driving On A Suspended License.
