In light of the up-tick in bicycle thefts in the city of Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz police officers are encouraging people to register their bicycles with the department. Reportedly, bicycle theft is the second most common form of property theft, and given that bicycles are a major form of transportation in Santa Cruz, such thefts can be very disruptive. U-shaped locks (that are tougher to cut) are recommended…..as is locking your wheel to the frame of the bicycle.
