Given that we’re expecting several more inches of rain tonight….and even more tomorrow, people are warned to avoid driving through flooded areas, especially if they cannot tell how deep the water actually is. That’s because it only takes 12 inches of fast-moving water to carry away a small car, and only 18-24 inches for a larger vehicle. People are also asked to report flooded areas, as well as downed wires, trees, and large branches, and any other safety issues.
Maintenance crews are currently working to free debris from under the San Lorenzo River Bridge, where the slow lane of northbound Highway 1 closed right now. They expect to be able to re-open before 4:30 p.m. today.
