(19:35) MONTEREY COUNTY COASTLINE – 1.5 million dollars in grants is being used to improve public access (as well as recreation and conservation of natural resources) along the Monterey county coastline….including in Big Sur. The money came from a 2.5 million dollar settlement (between the California Coastal Commission and tech entrepreneur Sean Parker) related to his 2013 wedding at the Ventana Campground in Big Sur, and additional violations at the Ventana Inn And Spa. 2 of the local non-profits and public organizations that received grants were:
- Big Sur Charter School for their hands-on outdoor “Coastal Stewardship Program”.
- CSU-Monterey Bay to help provide coastal access to underserved children and families in Monterey county.
