(07:34) MONTEREY COUNTY – A Salinas woman has been sentenced for welfare fraud. 35-year-old Xochitl Sanchez was convicted for failing to report her employment while receiving food stamps. She used over $2,000 in benefits. On Thursday, Sanchez was sentenced to nine months in jail and three years probation. She was also ordered to pay restitution to the Department of Social Services.
