An arrest has been made in what had been considered an accidental death in Watsonville.
In October, emergency personnel found 71-year-old Arnulfo Hernandez in grave condition after what was reported as an accidental fall.
Hernandez died four days later and based on available information, the death was ruled an accident.
However, last month Monterey Sheriff’s investigators received information that 41-year-old Casto Luna, a transient from Watsonville, was responsible for the death.
On Monday, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office found and arrested Luna with help from Watsonville police.
He was booked into the Monterey County Jail on murder, elder abuse resulting in great bodily injury, assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, witness intimidation, and spousal battery charges. His bail was set at more than a million dollars.
