(07:15) SANTA CRUZ – The owner and operator of Zelda’s restaurant in Capitola has died. John Ealy Sr. was a long-time resident of Santa Cruz. He attended Bayview Elementary School, Mission Hill Junior High, Santa Cruz High School, then Cabrillo College. He later served in the U.S. Navy and earned a bachelor’s degree at Long Beach State University. Ealy purchased Zelda’s in 1978, which he managed until his death. He passed away at his home in Aptos on March 30. He was 72 years old. (S.G.)
