(08:51) SANTA CRUZ – Crews will be installing new speed radars and flashing signs on the eastside of Santa Cruz next week. Beginning Monday, the Department of Public Works will be installing the systems on Portola and Felt Street near Del Mar Elementary. School officials concerned for student safety asked the city for the radars and flashing signs to curb speeding in the area. Motorists are being encouraged to avoid the area during the installation project or expect delays. The project is expected to be completed by April 7. (S.G.)
