An anti-police demonstration took place in downtown Santa Cruz on New Year’s Eve. Officials say a group of 20 individuals in black clothing carried banners promoting violence against officers. The group later gathered in the parking lot of Santa Cruz County Jail where they vandalized county cars. Police detained three individuals shortly after, including a 23-year-old man from Santa Cruz, a 25-year-old woman from Reedley, and a 29-year-old woman from Sacramento. All three were questioned and not arrested.
