AB – 1788 Signed Into Law – Rodenticides 10-01-20A 08:49 S.S.

A  bill  has  been  signed  into  law  that  would  restrict  the  use  of  certain  rat  poisons.   AB-1788  bars  the  general  use  of  so-called,  2nd-generation  anti-coagulant  rodenticides.     The  highly  potent  S-GARS  prevent  clotting,  and  that  causes  rodents  (including  squirrels  and  gophers)  to  die  from  internal  bleeding.    The  chemicals  linger  in  the  dead  bodies….creating  a  risk  to  predators  and  scavengers  that  the  eat  those  rodents…such  as  Great-Horned  Owls, Bobcats,  Mountain  Lions….and endangered  California Condors and San Joaquin  Kit  Foxes. As well as domestic pet dogs and cats.
