A fatal crash closed Castroville Boulevard and Elkhorn Road on Friday. Officials say that at about 5:45 p.m. a 72 year old woman lost control of her Volkswagon Bug and collided head-on with a pick-up truck. She was pronounced dead at the scene, the driver of the pick-up was transported to an area hospital, the extents of her injuries are unknown at this time. The roadways ere reopened at about 8 p.m.
