The USGS reports that there was a 3.4 magnitude earthquake around 12:30 PM today about two miles south of San Juan Bautista. The quake was at a depth of about 6.5 kilometers.
About a half-hour later, another 3.0 earthquake was reported in the same area.
The USGS says that most people reported feeling it around Hollister and Salinas. But there are also reports that it was felt on the Monterey Peninsula, in Prunedale, and into Santa Clara County.
