CV Firewise Community 11-08-20 11:32 S.S.

A Carmel Valley community may be the first to be designated a “Firewise U.S.A. Community” in Monterey county.  The folks in the Robles Del Rio neighborhood are using $25,000 in grant funds from P. G. & E. to remove fuels and hazardous branches from their roadways. The hours of work will go toward the 300 community hours needed to gain the designation.   The neighborhood formed their Firewise chapter after the 2016 Soberanes Fire.    Robles Del Rio is west of Carmel Valley Village and is comprised mostly of winding roads and one-lane bridges….and is a 1-way in, 1-way out kind of community.   Although locals say this work is helpful, they also say they have much more to do to make their area safer.
