A Salinas man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for robbing a Cricket Wireless store. The Monterey County District Attorney’s Office said 29-year-old Jose Angel Nunez walked into the store with two pistols and pointed them at the employees in the store.
Nunez took $915 before leaving.
After talking to witnesses and reviewing surveillance video, an officer recognized Nunez from prior contacts.
Nunez pleaded guilty to robbery with an enhancement for the use of a gun and assault with a gun. Both charges are strikes, so if he is charged with another strike offence, he will face 25 years to life in prison.
