(Shorter Version) Update from San Lorenzo Valley Water District 10/1/20 14:48 DC

On Santa Cruz’s north side, the San Lorenzo Valley Water District is asking customers to prepare now for winter rains which are predicted to cause flooding and debris flows in creeks and streams.

Residents should be prepared for power outages and store at least three days of drinking water. In 1982 flooding closed Highway 9 for days isolating communities and restricting travel.

The District says it has restored water service to all of its connections, reduced connections affected by the Do Not Drink/Do Not Boil (DND/DNB) notice, and has begun emergency repairs on its system.

Due to limited storage, the San Lorenzo Valley Water District is asking all customers to conserve water and follow strict water conservation measures, refraining from outdoor or unnecessary water use.

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) testing continues in the Riverside Grove and Big Basin Way pressure zones which are still under DND/DNB notices.

The District says it is updating its website, and social media pages almost daily. Please visit www.SLVWD.com to receive the most up to date news.
