As wind conditions improved yesterday, crews brought final containment to the Fox Fire in Siskiyou County, and over 17,000 firefighters worked to gain ground on the remaining 26 major wildfires across the state, including several very large fires that are now more than 90 percent contained, and a 3-day-old fire that is only 2 percent contained.
Crews across the State also responded to 26 new wildfires yesterday, with only the Candy Fire in Riverside County growing beyond control of the initial response.
2 days before that, the Glass Fire broke out near Calistioga and it has burned toward Santa Rosa. That wildfire has already burned more than 46,600 acres and is just 2 percent contained
Since the beginning of the year, there have been over 81-hundred wildfires, that have burned well over 3.9 million acres of California. Because of those wildfires, 7,200 structures have been destroyed, and 29 people have died.
