A new law provides opportunities for inmate fire fighters. Last week Governor Newsome signed AB 2147 into law. The bill allows for inmate fire fighters to file a petition in county court to expunge their records and waive parole time. They would then be eligible to work as professional fire fighters. The bill does not apply to violent and sex crime offenders.
