Evacuations are still in-place for the 31,005 acre Dolan Fire, that is considered to be 35 percent contained. This wildfire is threatening the community of Partington Ridge to the north, and Hermitage and Lucia (Loo-SEE-ah) to the south. It destroyed the California Condor Sanctuary in the Ventana Wilderness on the night of August 21st, and 10 of the adult Condors have not been seen since that time. A number of other adult Condors have been seen since the wildfire went through…..including the females of 2 of the mated pairs there. There are, or were, 4 un-fledged chicks in 4 separate nests in the sanctuary too. Condor chicks generally fledge when they are about 6 months old. These chicks are only about 4 months old.
