The newest member of the Santa Cruz police force has been certified to work in the field. 2 year-old “Arsen” is a Belgian Malinois who’s human partner is officer Alex Martin. The dog is expected to specialize in finding hidden people and catching them. Officer martin is a 24 year veteran with the department, and spent time on the “SWAT” team before becoming a K-9 handler.
