The U.S. Forest Service, CAL FIRE and other agencies are battling a wildland fire burning in Big Sur near Plaskett, located 64 miles south of Monterey along Highway 1.
The incident commanders are reporting that the fire has burned more than 20 acres as of 2:55 p.m. The fire was burning brush and oak undergrowth at a moderate rate of spread.
The fire was reported shortly before 11 this morning off Plaskett Ridge Road in the mountains five miles east of town.
