“Safe and Sane” Fireworks OK’d for Watsonville 06-03-20 04:20 DC

The City of Watsonville has announced that so-called “Safe and Sane” fireworks will be allowed to be sold and used in the city this year.

In a Tuesday Facebook post, Watsonville P-D said its biggest goal is ensuring a safe 4th of July, apart, but not alone.

“During this public health crisis, social gatherings continue to be a concern for our community,” the police department said.

“We can celebrate our country’s independence, while at the same time protect the health of the most vulnerable in our community, by maintaining social distancing and avoiding large gatherings.”

Watsonville police say they hope families will enjoy the community tradition and do so safely.
