Opponents of multi-story parking garages in downtown Santa Cruz are trying to get a measure on this November’s ballot.
Rick Longinotti, co-chairman of the Campaign for Sensible Transportation, plans to kick-off a campaign Saturday to qualify a voter initiative for the November election.
The Santa Cruz Sentinel says the proposed initiative’s authors would seek to force the city to obtain residents’ backing before increasing the city’s parking garage supply in the future.
The group needs 6,000 verified petition signatures by May 18 to place proposed city charter amendment on the ballot for the November election.
