The rough and tumble central coast surf has taken it’s toll on the Capitola Wharf.
The wharf is closed because of two pilings that snapped under the boat hoist on Wednesday morning… following record high surf on new year’s eve.
Today, a crew is expected to secure the portion of the pier where the pilings broke… with further work to fix it permanently next week.
Workers at the bait shop noticed the wharf was sagging and went under the wharf to take a look and that’s when they noticed the pilings were broken beneath the 160-year-old wharf.
