The driver of a truck died when the vehicle was struck by an Amtrak train south of Castroville last night. The shortly before 7 p.m. accident (which involved a portable toilet maintenance truck) occurred near the intersection of Rodgers Road and Highway 183, and led to 750 gallons of sewage being spilled to ground. It was considered a medium HazMat situation.
Of the 169 passengers on the train, 1 suffered a minor injury in the crash.
