More than a million P.G. & E. customers are without power now due to the public safety power shut-offs, and thousands more in southern California may also be losing power because Southern California Edison is talking about doing proactive power shut-offs there as well.
P.G. & E. officials say they have been able to return power to about 50-thousand customers in the northeast Sierra Foothills. The utility also said it expected to restore power to 60-thousand to 80-thousand customers in areas of Humboldt county this morning.
Although thousands of people are without power in Santa Cruz County,
Monterey and San Benito Counties appear to be free of power outages that are part of the Public Safety Power Shut-Offs.
