A Red Flag Warning has been issued for the Santa Cruz mountains from 5 p.m. this evening to noon tomorrow. North to northeast winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts of 35 to 45 mph are expected. The greatest fire threat is expected to be in the highest ridges and peaks as well as the southwest facing slopes….tonight.
Those gusty winds and dry conditions, combined with a heightened fire risk are forecasted to begin tonight…..and that could lead to PG&E starting public safety power shut-offs in portions of Santa Cruz county.
