On Wednesday, the Homeless Services Center began offering access to trailers featuring showers and toilets, as a way to provide hygienic services for Paul Lee Loft shelter residents. The 115 Coral Street-based shelter originally had permanent versions of these facilities, but they are now beyond their useful service life. Officials with the Homeless Services Center claim that a remodel of the hygiene facilities would cost anywhere between $500,000 and $1 million, and are turning to city officials for fiscal support in this project. Meanwhile, residents of Paul Lee Loft state the mobile facilities are not ADA-Accessible, as they must be accessed by a set of stairs.
