A Santa Cruz woman has been named the female athlete of the month for June. Triathlete Katie Zafares won her 4th race in 5 International Triathlon Union events this season. A soccer player was chosen for 2nd place; while a Louisiana State Track And Field athlete came in 3rd. By winning the Athlete Of The Month award, Zaferes is eligible for the academy’s Athlete Of The Year award.
