If you’ve been on local beaches lately, you may have noticed all the junk washing up on shore due to all the stormy weather.
At Asilomar beach, a large amount of plastic pellets or “nurdles” piled up and are proving to be dangerous to marine life, that mistake the plastic for food.
Representatives from save our shores are stepping up their beach cleaning efforts since last month. The Monterey county health department is reminding beach goers that after a big rain event storm drains and rivers run into the ocean, so wait a few days before you enter the water… in case of contamination.
