Wildfire danger has prompted the closure of major parks in Santa Cruz. Pogonip, Arana Gulch, Moore Creek, Delaveaga and Arroyo Seco parks have been closed. The fire department says the closures are necessary because of extreme fire conditions, as well as the significant number of fires that have sparked in those areas.
Just this week, a fire was sparked at Pogonip park and officials say an illegal camp fire started that one and at least two others.
