City officials in Santa Cruz agreed last night to sell its last 8 acres of the former Skypark Airport in Scotts Valley to 2 developers. At issue know is what city leaders will do with the $8.5 million they’ll get for the land. By existing city policy, the revenue is set to be deposited into the Public Trust Fund, and would then be used to help pay for high-priority, unfunded, city Capital Improvement Projects. In order to spend the money elsewhere, the council would need to amend its own rules.
