Cracks have begun to form in the new section of Highway 1 near Mud Creek, south of Big Sur. Cal-Trans officials say they are aware of the cracking, and have people monitoring it closely. Those officials further say that the cracks are just on the surface cracks of the 4-inch layer of new roadway, and are nothing to be concerned about.
